When I was a young sailor stationed at Mare Island California I heard that a new Star Trek memorabilia store called The Federation Outpost was opening in Berkley and that the first 100 people got autographed photos of the cast. Me and 2 of my friends decided that we’d get there early to be one of the first 100. The store opened at 9 so we were there by 6:30 and there was already a short line. About 20 minutes before the store opened a bunch of kids showed up and made their own line at the other side of the door. Nope! I went and blocked them until it was my turn to enter (they only let 10 people in at a time) and then someone else took over. The kids were not happy and a few threatened me but since I towered over them none were dumb enough to start anything. I remember I got a picture of Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) but haven’t seen it in years.
