How old is the kid, how much does it weigh that Mom has to carry it to bus stop and who carries it when she gets off bus and has to walk to her class or locker which is probably farther than bus stop
I agree with everybody else that Abby’s actions aren’t resolving the problem, but she’s also got a point—they don’t really have the time to be arguing this, as the kid still needs to get on the bus at the same time either way, and that bus sure as heck isn’t going to wait for them to resolve this dispute.
Basically, there’s a time and a place for this, and right now probably isn’t it. Best to focus on seeing the kid off to school for now and loop back around to the matter and discuss it in full then once she’s back and the time limit is no longer a factor.
I don’t see any universe where a mother would carry her daughter’s backpack to the bus. Consider this: when she gets to school, who would carry her backpack to her classroom?

Dad has dropped down at least 10 points in the “respect list.”

Way to show Len how much you appreciate him.

Libby is wrong on this issue. She is entitling her children and accomplishing nothing.

Wrong choice Libby, the kid should carry her own backpack, and you’ve reduced Dad’s athority.

Mom’s ticket off, kid is smirking and Len is about to have a stroke – will be interesting to see who wins this battle and where’s the other kid ?

Next time kid wants something from Dad, tell her to get it from Mom! She is the enabler.

Mom already did this with spoiling her by not making her get her dinner and making her special food

Yes Abby, that’s teaching your daughter to disrespect dad’s boundaries and neglect her responsibilities. Well done mom/therapist.
