Awww, then it seems Flask let him turn her into a mutant. Or at least went to sleep intending to let him turn her into a mutant. Luckily she didn’t turn into something like a worm.
Still, as sweet as the story is so far, I’ve got my break up ice cream ready to go for when things inevitably turn south… ;n;

Announcing the latest Endtown Auction Block auction! You may have noticed that Aaron hasn’t been so visible lately – that’s because he’s busy getting ready for the Baltimore Comic Con this weekend. So, he’s asked me to prep this week’s auction. We’ve got two great offerings this time (I know, they’re always great; well, these are two of the greater ones) – a dapper-looking Mallard, and Sparkplug Sanders facing the onslaught of WW III. Please be generous – your bids help keep Endtown running.
Also, I’m in the process of creating the new Endtown wiki. Feedback or assistance would be welcome. I haven’t tried adding artwork yet, because I don’t know how wiki.com handles copyright ownership.
Interesting to note that the future Petey will not ever have seen Flask’s human (physical) face – unless he has a brief glimpse during the transformation.
In response to Manuel Lim’s comment, “Tomorrow the unavailing of Flask.” Would you mean "unveiling?Anyway, today is Thursday. It’s obviously going to be a weekend cliffhanger.
It is the leap of faith. Starting out with such promise but heading directly to doom. A very brave choice on both their parts. I knew her choice was voluntary it would have to be due to their conditions
While noting that the man’s face has not been show yet, I had the strange thought that it might be Marx himself! But, that can’t be as Flask would have recognized him on the air ship earlier in this arc. So, is the guy Petey or not? I’m not sure at this point. But it probably is. Another question arises as to how they could be “lovers”. Since Flask as a Topsider, can’t take her suit off, lovemaking would seem to be impossible. And then there’s the question of how does he fall in love with a woman whose face he can’t see? That helmet the Topsiders wear seems designed to create fear in the onlooker not to inspire love. So, I suspect his motives are not romantic.
“One of us would have to cross over”.Seems to me only one of them COULD cross over. Seeing as the TSers aren’t out there recruiting new members, there have to be some sort of ID verification in force. Petey2B couldn’t just slip on a biosuit and blend in, regardless of what Flask would or wouldn’t wish. (Even if he could, they would still be “untouchable”) In reality, there is only one course of action available to them, and the deciding factor would be what would be sufficient incentive for Flask to accept becoming (what she considered) someone else. what the other mutants were forced to accept as a fait accompli, she had the opportunity to reject. Her own life (without Petey2B) was not enough, but the possibility of a life with Petey was enough to tip the scales. The great irony here is that Flask willingly accepted becoming someone else for the chance to be with Petey, but then Petey was forced to become someone else as well, but someone who no longer could offer Flask what she needed to make her choice valid. As a topsider, Flask could save Petey, but not be with him. As a mutant, she could do neither. No wonder she went bonkers, it makes my head hurt just thinking about it.;-)
I’m begining to think Mallard probably knows most of this story, but maybe not to the extent of knowing Petey was the guy she lost. (Though her initial reaction to Petey (in the PT) may have been something of a clue. Mallard IS pretty sharp as ducks go…);-)
I agree. The other TSers probably know. We knew Flask had to be knocked out during transformation. Now we know why and how. She may wake up tomorrow surrounded by TSers—with the appropriate gloating. They would take Petey2b then. I don’t see why they wouldn’t kill Flask then. She’d be a mutant and a security risk. But they didn’t—unless she somehow escaped. I think she assumed PT2b was dead because she saw them take him. She did NOT know he became a Personnel Transporter. That just pushed her further over the edge.
It would have been hard for her lover to be a Topsider. They spend their whole lives in that suit. All contact and I say all contact is by sensor inputs. Imagine going thru life never making the “human touch”. Remember what she said about how they see. Computer generated faces. She said to make it easier to look at each other. Even Vadar had his mask removed near death just to look on his son with as he said “my own eyes”.
A thought just crossed my mind. Why aren’t the Topsiders looking for the escaped prisoner? Wouldn’t the fact of his disappearance have alerted them to something strange going on?
“D’oh! Good point. But they could be imprisoned together. Good…hopefully we’ll get to see them together for a time, during which Flask will become Blackie.”Are you really sure you want to see that? It might refer to the amount of soft tissue damage that was inflicted during incarceration…

So becoming a mutant was a conscious (so to speak) decision on Blackie’s part.
JanBic Premium Member about 12 years ago
Flask may be the ONLY mutant by choice.

Tomorrow the unavailing of flask.

So, yet again, I am 100% wrong. Well at least my perfect record is still intact.;-)
celeconecca about 12 years ago
he may be immune and not a mutant, but could he be allergic to cats?
BTW – have we seen his face in it’s entirety yet?

Flask is certainly redeeming herself here…..it doesn’t quite fit with the ruthless side of her, but then a heart broken…….
