Don’t do it Walt. Something still isn’t right about Portia’s story. Also, armed police nearby would take a dim view of another example of rough justice. And you aren’t bulletproof.
A second thought. I have a bad feeling this is were Jacob shows up…….she runs to surrender to Jacob and the Security forces who are just a tad late. They are now between him and her. I gotta bad feeling about how this ends.
Yes, Portia is manipulating Walt, just as she did for the hanging. That doesn’t mean she is one of the cannibals. She wanted to use him to go with her for this meeting, but he wasn’t responding. It is clear that revenge drives her.
The scavengers who went topside, mostly wolves, did it for the canned meat at first before moving onto living creatures. Any tinned meat they brought back was confiscated by rat security. They smuggled in some tinned meat to recruit new scavengers. Some of the recruits were like rabbits. When they went topside to scavenge, the recruits were easy prey. The survivors merely reported them killed by topsider humans. The lawyer pig was probably a human butcher before the war transformed them. Then the new mayor banned scavenging topside because there was a 5 year supply of food and scavengers had been killed by topsiders for “as little as 1 can of food brought back to End Town”.
Panel 4, wow…. the blanket falls away revealing all the blood stains as Denise bolts in panic away from the dark foreboding presence of Walt, the harbinger of her doom.
Hmmm… There’s more to the picture that meets the eyes. The wolf is dead silent. Denis is too obvious a culprit to be the right one. Walt is not in his right mind. And Portia sounds insane. I’d not place a bet here.
Ok, the wolf’s demise caught them all off guard. If Walt’s not careful someone with a weapon is gonna come to their senses and put a couple of slugs in him. :-(
Given both Portia and Walt’s shattered psyches… I fear this is Berserker Rage. Walt is not going to stop until Denise is tenderized, or Walt is shot down.
Walt was upset when he got a clue to Portia’s vindictive nature when they hanged Foxworthy. That was what set him off drinking again. Maybe he won’t be so quick to heed her cries of “kill her, kill her!”.
Walt, silent-with face obscured by shadow for the last couple strips- appears to me as some kind of avenging Golem…with Portia as his master. I don’t like it, because I don’ t believe Portia is totally a victim.
Nothing about this smells right. People are getting killed too easily and too quickly, and vital information is getting lost forever. I just did a binge reread of the entire story arc, and while Denise fits into the role of perpetrator hiding in plain sight and Portia fits into the role of pain-maddened victim, the fit isn’t neat.
For reference, https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2017/01/11 “Yes, we all worr—” We all worry. About what? And what is she being asked to do? The obvious answer is to sacrifice herself, but somehow that doesn’t fit… and the “if you love me” stuff nags as well.
Gee… I wonder how Jacob Jackrabbit will feel about all this. After all, making Portia the bait was his and Velda’s idea. And more importantly… Will he be able to do anything to help Walter and Portia, or will he need permission from Head of Security Freeman?

Run Miss Piggy. Run.
On a side note, if Portia is able to bellow like that with her gut wounds, she may survive them yet.

And, losing the blanket reveals copious blood stains from some one not among the wounded!
I bet she never did the running that Portia did (start of this arc).
I hope Walt doesn’t catch her, because I really want her to get her mind sliced. And Jacob should televise it…

Q: How many lawyers does it take to cover a roof?
A: It depends on how thin you slice them.
There’s an opening for a new DA in town.

Whoa-up Walt. Portia’s brother died quite a while ago; how does Portia make this link now. Portia says Denise killed than all…and ate them? ?

I know this awesome comic has it’s share of very dark moments, but this dark moment just scored 20 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Still there is something fishy here. What about all the names on the long list that jacob has? Lots of missing crucial informations.

If Portia slashed herself to set up the only ones left who could turn her in for the crimes, that would be a new candidate for stone cold behavior.

Wonder if Portia honestly loved Walt all this time. Because, right now, it looks more like she was grooming a living weapon…

Walt is going to go to prison.
Though, I am not sure he can catch the little piggy.
Why is Walt acting like a machine? He hasn’t even said one word so far and we haven’t been able to really read his facial expressions.
I guess she just couldn’t give up the bacon…and it is true that you are what you eat after all.
