NPR isn’t nearly as Liberal as some claim. Liberals have a hard time getting on and getting to say things their way.

I was all set to go to Woodstock (about 6 hours from home,) but I had just been hired for a job which was due to start the Monday after. At the last minute, the employer called and asked me to start early – on Friday. I opted for the job and missed being a witness to history. Never would have made it home in time for work.

The Woodstock Music & Arts Fair, August 1969. Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York. That was 48 years ago, so the average attendee would be in their…seventies by now?

Thanks, Ms. Wilkinson, for making it abundantly, powerfully clear, that I am now OLD.

I was not at Woodstock. I was working a humble fast food job that summer. One of the rich kids in my town came by and told me about it just after it ended. But still, it is an event of importance. Not just as generational history, but as an example about how people can treat each other, even under very inconvenient conditions, when they are outside of their roles in the capitalist economy. It should be a model and lesson for the ages. I am deeply disappointed that it now is relegated to being a mere curiosity, if that is the case.
