I had the opposite. One time I fractured a part of my finger near a joint. They did an X-ray and while the doctor was looking at it, I also saw it. I could see that a small part had broken off, but still partly attached (so basically just needed splinting to ensure it didn’t move while healing). When the doctor said there was nothing wrong, I said “what about that bone splinter?” He then proceeded to try and fob me off that it was like a knee cap. WTF – a knee cap in a finger (and just one!). Clearly I must look stupid if he expected me to believe that. I was not impressed. He did splint it in the end.
