I tried to take group sewing lessons once several years ago and it was a complete waste of time and money! I showed up every week like I was supposed to to make my skirt and the instructors spent all their time that night trying to get the ones who missed the week before caught up so that we could all then go forward together from that same point. And this happened every single week for as long as the class lasted!!! Needless to say, I walked away from there when it was over with an unfinished skirt and completely discouraged because I really wanted to learn how to make my own clothes. That was the first and last time I took sewing lessons. Now I have a beautiful little sewing machine that my husband bought me one year for Christmas many years ago and it sits around more unused than used, which is a real shame.
On the upside, I’m pretty proud of my cross stitching skills! The majority of my home’s walls are covered with my own hand-made artwork instead of store-bought pictures and I’ve given away tons of things I’ve made over the years to people for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas, graduation, new babies, etc. Clothes wear out or are given away when they go out of style, but something like THIS lasts a lifetime!
