2 months of school and 6 months of holidays! What about the other 4 months in the year?

When the kids are at school, that’s when the mother has her holiday.

Personally I think kids should go to school all year round.

With 4 months of school you could live the ‘good life’ of being…STUPID.

Poollady – some schools HAVE year round schooling. They have the exact same number of holidays, just spread out over the year.

I read somewhere that in the old days in the South, school would start for a month or so, and then let out a month or so for the cotton harvest, and then resume again. In our area, although unofficial, only about half the students show up on the opening day of deer hunting season.

Susan Newman: The tourist industry lobby demands it, even if few today can afford to tour.

For those that rail against the “summer vacation” and advocate year-round school attendence, I only have TWO questions. Just how eager were YOU to get a summer vacation and how eager were you to go back to school come Fall? And secondly, how much do you look forward to that vacation fom your job when you start getting burned out at work? And YOU’RE not a child any more.

After that train ride, both his parents need a holiday, and some down time.

My sister used to teach in a year round schedule and she loved it! Think – School Jan – March take April off. May – July take August off. Sept – Nov with December off. Students retained more information – families had vacation time if “off season” School distircts could coordinate so they were of different schedules. I’d much rather vacation at Disneyland or Wash D.C. in April than August! Florida in December – ahhhh!

I’ve never met a kid yet that couldn’t wait for summer vacation to be over so they could go back to school!
