How long of a flight is it from Toronto, Ontario (since FBorFW takes place in a Toronto fictional suburb) to Calgary, Alberta? Any Canadian know the answer for this here non-Canadian?
If this was today, Mike would be happy to channel-surf on the seatback TV or play with his smartphone or tablet. But he should count his blessings. You haven’t experienced cabin fever until you’ve taken a 15 hour nonstop flight. And back.
AND a little sprinkle will delay or cancel the flight too (now that we have more instruments so pilots don’t NEED visuals as they did. I can remember the days when I often flew for my work when I could hope for one or two empty seats in my row and there were practically no restrictions over carry ons. I even brought back a 30’ tall concrete statue from Chihuahua MX (got a spare seat on Mexicana and went into the first class elevator on American.
Why would they stop in Calgary? I suspect this is a smaller airplane with maybe 20 – 30 passengers, with a much smaller distance, maybe 1400-2000 kilometre distance.

I believe it’s about 5 hours air time but the three hours difference in time makes it only 2 numerically.

And the time difference between Toronto and Calgary is only 2 hours. The difference between Toronto and Vancouver is 3 hours.

An empty seat ??? I have not seen one in a long time. They always pack the plane full nowaday.

You just need someone to talk to, although I’m sure they sat you alone for safety. Take a nap, Michael!

That must have included layovers, since there’s no such thing as a 26 hour non-stop flight.

An empty seat, legroom – must have been in the days of first class and coach! Plus 2 X 2 seating? Now it’s all sardine class!

Plus change somewhere enroute.

That does look like only 23 minutes of activiies on the seat next to him. At least only 23 minutes worth for that age.
Lucubrare over 11 years ago
And you know this is fiction because there is an empty seat next to Michael.
