For once, you got it right, John!

“Does this dress make me look fat?”

“No, dear.”

Honesty is the best policy.

But keeping your thoughts to yourself is right up there as well.

“I love you curly or straight”

An ode to a pretzel.

“I love you thin or chunky”

An ode to peanut butter.

Finally he said the right thing! Though she may take that “thin or chunky” thing to mean he thinks she’s chunky but that’s not what he said. He said thin first didn’t he?

We all know that the saying John just spew so poetically is just placating us because we all know what we look like. Why do we ask? To see reaction, to gauge reaction, to hear the words, to judge, etc. We women are evil this way.

“Love knows when to keep its mouth shut.”

That sounds a little bit more like self-preservation than love.

Nowadays a big butt seems to be considered hot.

Lynn’s Notes:

The curly hair story brought thanks from folks who were telling me to change Elly’s hair, complaints from folks who thought it was ugly, and very personal letters from women and men who were waiting for a hair disaster to grow out. Hair, it seems, is very serious stuff.

I do believe this is the first time that John has kept the final snarky remark to himself. He’s growing up finally.

He usually doesn’t.

Nicely done, John.

AMEN!! John AMEN!!

This is especially funny to me, because my First Maite decided that she wanted a new look and cut her hair ( yesterday ) relatively short.

I refrained from saying anything stupid ( a rarity for me ) and said something similar to what John said.

Truth be told, the short hair looks really good on her.

John’s final comment speaks volumes. There are many of us who are not on board with the “flavor of the month” approach. Yet we endure and suffer in silence. Sometimes….

Her hair looks like some of those wigs that judges or kings wore years ago. Think King Roland in Space Balls!

HA! I knew it! I knew John couldn’t have liked it

It is nice to see a story arc besides the usual “Elly vs. Belly”.

The hair is ugly, but John is is acting wisely for a change.
