Lord, Fiona. Ever heard of courtesy? Ask ahead of time if it would be ok to bring a cat. The Pattersons has an English Sheepdog who chases cats.

When my nephew was born, my father’s niece (who is close to their own age) considers herself to be the boy’s aunt as well. in the meantime, Beaumont is sooooooo going to get along fine with Farley.

She’s not bad. She’s just drawn that way.

Beaumont! The best cat that ever graced or ever will grace this comic strip finally makes his appearance. Things just keep getting better and better, including that fantastic close-up of Fiona in panel 2. Look at the thick and delicate line work. Look at the detail on Fiona’s shirt. Look at the perspective line from Fiona to Elizabeth. Lynn Johnston artwork does not get much better than this.

Oh dang. I remember this arc.

haha, oh geez. As if her introduction wasn’t evocative enough, now we get a shot of her broad chin, peg-like teeth, huge underbite and crossed eyes. Just in case we weren’t sure if we were supposed to like this character or not!

Whaaaa??? I’m a cat person but I’d NEVER EVER just bring my cat to stay with people without asking if it is OK. This is going to be, well, interesting!

Fiona does not seem like the type of person that really cares about others’ feelings.

I had an “aunt” who would pinch my cheeks like that when I was a kid. I’m not sure how exactly we were related.

Because there had never been a cat in the strip, I decided to add one that was less than friendly. Stuff like this gave me lots to work with; maybe too much!

Oh, Elly, sic Farley on Beaumont and CHASE him away. That way Fiona will be so upset to have lost Beaumont that she will turn around and go home – that is, if she even have a home. I have the feeling she mooches off on relatives by house hopping. She will call a relative and bawl about the awful Pattersons and needs to crash their place like NOW.

Fiona looks like a character from one of Roald Dahl’s books.

Who will be responsible for the cat box?

Elly is a dropout. She must feel glad no longer being the odd one out in the Pattersons. One of her kind has visited.

“ Of course, i need you to get a litter box for Beaumont. He likes a Huge litter box, and only uses premium litter. He will need it cleaned twice daily. Will this honor go to Michael, or Elizabeth?”

I think it is time to help Fiona out and show her the door she came in!
