Very nice!!

Is this a 2022 original or was it made for a different milestone birthday of Sparky then when he was still alive (like say his 80th back in 1992)?

Who’s Sparky?

NOW this was a giant and plesant suprise: While I knew Lynn at least knew sparky (like Robb Armstrong she showed up in a documentary) and was a friend of his, I didn’t think she’d EVER break from retirment. It’s a noble reason to and even if it’s just for one day it’s wonderful to have her back. She even mimicked the style of her strips at this time, which is n’t a LOT diffrent from her later work but it’s enough it took clear effort to make this seamless with the reprints. Good on you Lynn. I may criticise this strip from time to time (esecpially the anthonys tuff0 but I know a true legend when I see it and it’s nice to see one honoring another.

This is great , a brand new For Better or Worse for Charles Schulz 100th, nicely done!

I thought that For Better Or Worse was an old comic.

More than 75 syndicated cartoonists have tucked tributes, Easter eggs and references to “Peanuts” in Saturday’s funny papers to honor Charles M. Schulz, the creator of Charlie Brown, Snoopy and company, on what would have been Schulz’s 100th birthday.

This one is Lynn Johnston’s contribution.

She reworked the words from an old comic strip she did. This comic strip is one that Lynn did for Charles Schulz on Monday, February 14, 2000, a Valentine’s Day tribute to Schulz who would have been in the hospital at the time, if he had not died on February 12, 2000.

I think this is Lynne Johnson’s first new comic strip since For Better or For Worse officially ended.

I love that nearly all of the cartoonists are honoring Charles Schultz (Sparky) today! So sweet!

How nice. Happy to see cartoonists celebrating a wonderful man and cartoonist.

VERY NICE! Oh how I miss the Charlie Brown TV specials being played on Networks regularly.

It was wholesome and honored American values and Christians Principles. It brought people together into a common culture with shared values.

Now, with the internet, divisiveness springs everywhere as iconoclastism pervades all the new media (which infiltrates the legacy media).

Yeah… THE classic comic.

This is my favorite comics day!! So many wonderful comics paying tribute to Charles Schulz. I had no idea how much he influenced everyone. It’s pretty amazing.

Did Lynne come out of retirement for this?

This one is bittersweet, as it originally ran on Valentine’s Day, 2000- two days after Sparky died, with different dialogue. Of course, Lynn Johnston drew it while he was still here, and expected him to see it. They were good friends.

Is this the first new FBOFW that the strip has run since it went to slightly altered pure reprints back in 2010?

The first entry Johnston has done in how long? At least she hasn’t disrupted the continuity of the rerun.

I had to search the FBorFW site to find the original version of this strip from 2000. I knew it couldn’t be a brand new strip because in the current arc Farley is the only pet in the Patterson household, yet here are both Edgar and Mr B

If you look at the first comics he did… the Li’l Folks ones… he did them under the name of Sparky. You will also notice characters with traits and looks that would eventually evolve into Peanuts. I used to have a pull toy dog that was named “Snoopy”. It warms this boomer’s heart to see Lynn Johnston and the Pattersons return for a day to honor “Sparky” Schulz. I’ve counted 30 other tributes and am still counting. Nice publicity for the profession since I’m checking out the online strips of many other cartoonists I don’t usually look at.
