Why can’t Lawrence go to the prom?

Does that school have a “Don’t Ask; Don’t Tell” policy??

I’ve never had a tuxedo. Never had a valid reason to own one.

Well, I heard that Lawrence was gay, but I had no idea that Michael leaned that way as well! That he can’t hardly wait to see Gordo dressed up in a tux at a dance. And all this time we thought that Michael was dating girls!

I wonder if Gord will get one of those tuxedo long-sleeved tees (like a character did in the original “Carrie”). As for me, I didn’t go to prom, as badly as I wanted to. Nobody asked me, nobody I asked could go (I resorted to my older brother’s friends), and since people were taking bets that I would show up alone (yes, actual money), I couldn’t give them the satisfaction. My older daughter attended hers with her 2 besties & they had a wonderful time; my younger daughter got her ticket.

I didn’t go to the prom. Most of the young ladies available were the same ones that tormented me (just as bad as the guys) on top of being the token unaccepted unpopular kid. I seem to recall even being threatened with great bodily harm if I showed up.

I went to graduation. Period. Anything that happened after I got the piece of paper and they ended the “ceremony” was still high school and I wanted nothing to do with it. Not sorry.

If they’re referring to the prom, I skipped mine. I really just had no interest.

A few months later the school sent all the recent graduates a “senior memories” video that included footage of the prom. It did nothing to make me wish I’d gone.

Their silhouettes in the third panel look eerily, impossibly slender.

Seems there is a difference between how commentors see prom versus the stereotype of prom shown in the media.

Just rent it. My wife rented her wedding dress, one that would cost about $4k and no one knew except us. She was teaching at the time and had the whole summer to find bargains. One of her students dads had a limo service and he donated it for free. People thought we spent about $10k but it was much, much less than that.

The Monkees did that in their song, where the high school prom king and queen got married, only to find that married life does not fit the stereotype of ’go to public school, marry your prom date and live in a secure comfortable life until you get social security". In the song, the now married man is broke and struggling at his job, wondering to himself why his life did not turn out like the stereotype.

They can entertain at prom! Remember when Michael got a hard hat for Christmas? He can wear that and be in a band with the others. Michael can be a construction worker, Brian an Indian, Gordon a sailor and Lawrence a leather wearing biker. Now they just need a name.

    The Townsfolk?

    The City Occupants?

    The Suburbanites?

Call out to all of you: is there a FREE website where you can see if someone you know actually got married with an official license at the courthouse vs. living together? I have my suspicions about a certain person pretending to be married. Several websites I’ve tried pretend to look but want to charge you…guess I’ll have to call the courthouse after all, shouldn’t that info be free for the asking, public record?

The website SortedByName.com is sort of a shot in the dark unless you are in Texas. This site lists primarily marriages. Some divorces are here and they post births back in the late 1800s to early 1900s. I think most of the information comes from volunteers. Texas produces a nice file every year listing all the marriages and information about them you might want. It is easy to reformat that data for the SortedByName website. It will be a toss of the dice for any other state.

Lawrence doesn’t have a partner to go with and who knows being gay how accepted he might be. Mind you not seemingly out to the school either.
