An ‘airy’ blue… that has a subtle ‘sheen’ in the afternoon light. And complements a Victorian lamp on a side table to provide a cozy spot to read while covered with a throw amongst the matching pillows. It’s perfect!
We had to buy a new couch last month. When we walked into the furniture store a sea of grey faced us. What happened to color? Patterns? Seems like the whole country has gone uni-colour.
I know we didn’t get the couch we ordered because my feet don’t touch the floor on this one. And with the delay of getting furniture delivered because of H. Ian, we’re keeping it. Fortunately, it’s a recliner so it doesn’t really matter. Enough about me.
Yep, just like the typical wife. “It’s perfect, if it were a little bit smaller, It just the right style, if it were more contemporary, It’s the right shape, if it were a little more rounded and it’s the perfect color, if they make it in blue.”
Elly has been looking for a striped couch for the last 2 months that exactly matches the striped couch she used to have, except instead of green stripes like the original, she wants blue stripes. Elly knows what she wants and it happens to be the same thing that the artist wants to draw. Coincidence? I think not.
When buying high priced items, I usually have to tag along with checkbook in hand. When asking if I like it, she’ll get the usual “Good Choice” or “Great” from me just to get the process over and done with. ;-p
That is a perfectly reasonable question. They’re not going to put every available color in every available style on the showroom floor. An upholstered piece may very well be available in more than one color. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

As Elle asked her question, in my head I heard Gracie Allen’s voice.

Lol. Right type of couch but wrong color. Happens so often. Rare to get have something exactly what you want unless you custom order.

Can’t blame her for wanting blue.

Friend bought a satin ORANGE couch with blue flowers. The thing must have glowed in the dark. His wife hadn’t arrived yet.

Elly better hope her library job lasts a long time. New furniture can get expensive.
And yes, the “rich dentist” may give this remark:
John: Oh no Elly, I am not bailing you out this time. Your name is on that contract, and payment will be made only with your money.

Excellent comments, everyone! No finger wagging at Elly, just enjoying the humor. Way to go!

I wonder if this was the inspiration for the classic “But does it come in blue?” Honda commercial.

Lame furniture store that doesn’t let you pick out the material/color of couch , you want.

Why so surprised? If you get the size and shape you want, shouldn’t you get the right color, too?
