A while back I thought running would be a good way to get in shape and better myself. After about a hundred yards in I thought maybe I’ll start with my personality instead.

Hope they were running in a circle, or they will have to call John or Michael to come get her.

The old joke went, “I used to be conceited, but then I got therapy and now I’m the nicest guy in town.”

Know your limits. Stretch ‘em, but don’t break ’em.

Huh, has it only been an hour?

For me it seems like I read that they started jogging about 24 HOURS ago!

Running is SO bad for the knees (for most women. Has to do with hip to knee angle). Elly, your daughter Elizabeth does figure skating. You should give that a try! Big adult skating community here in America and I’ll bet in Canada it’s even bigger. (Yes, I am an adult/competitive skater).

Actually, I really think I would want to throw up. You do you.

In Texas she would not have lasted an hour. It is way too hot.

It’s not supposed to be that hard, Ellie.

When a veteran jogger is paired with a novice, the veteran has to slow to a proper pace for the novice. Walking/running would have been a more sensible choice.

My wife’s doctor told her to walk 3 miles a day, yesterday, she sent me a postcard from Buffalo.

    Bah Dump Bump….Henny Youngman lives!

My Granny enjoys taking a little tramp in the woods. He seems to enjoy it too.

I am guessing that El did not do a warm up first. Always do stretching exercises before running.

What Ellie wants to do is just lay here until she gets her breath back and then she wants to go home!

It’s rough when you don’t have the stamina built up.

Elly has had it. Pick her up and hold her up while she wheezes her way home.

Elle wants to go back to planning events, so much easier than exercise.

Running for an hour as a starting point for exercise – good way to end up in the ER

Connie should have known that Elly was relatively new to this and cut her some slack. Too much too soon.

To complete the comment in panel 3, you need just one word. “Survive”. That one will do.

Running for an hour when you have not had any exercise in years. No wonder Elly collapses and judging from the final panel breaks her hip and breaks wind at the same time.

There’s a word for walking, jogging, and running. — From the Swedish “speed play”, it’s fartlek (related to “fare” and Old English “faren” to drive, or modern German “fahren”).

Jeez! You don’t start off with a one-hour run to begin with!!! Elly could easily have a heart attack!

Yeah, gimme a break, ran almost an hour after not running in years. I literally couldn’t have run for an hour in the best shape of my life, when I was 23 and in the Army!
