Nah, Dawn. Candace wants Anthony for herself. By comforting him after delivering the bad news, she gets to sympathize and comfort him. Guys fall for that old trick and hook up with them.

He’s not worth it

With a friend (soon to be former) like Candace, you don’t need an enemy.

Can’t Elizabeths ‘see’ that Dawn is more of a friend to Candace (who has a ‘crush’ on Anthony) than she is to Elizabeth and is doing Candace ‘a favor’ rather than Elizabeth ! ! !

I know there’s a “bro-code” for situations like this, but does the same apply amongst the opposite gender? Not to sound like an idiot, though…

Liz is being mean and a coward.

I wonder if the name Candace was derived from the term “Candyass”?

Somehow, this is part of high school I never missed.

Somehow, I don’t trust Candace’s motives.

To Candice, a friend in need is no friend of hers.

There was a similar strip in the B.A. era (Before April) where Gordon tried to gain the attention of Allyson Creemore.

Michael: You are going to ask Allyson out?

Gordon: No I am not. You are!

Michael: Get real Gordon. If you want to date Allyson, or any girl in the whole wide world, you need to ask her out yourself.

Why do I get a feeling that there is a big test coming, then Elizabeth, Dawn and Candace will be shocked that they have spent no time preparing for it?

Getting the sense there will be an “Ant & Grasshopper” story angle soon.

Hey, looks like I was right, high school, kinda like the X Files (Pun intended?) , Trust No 1 . ;-)

Candace’s body language in the last panel says a great deal.

In the panels where Candace and Anthony are in the foreground, Elizabeth’s and Dawn’s dialogue appears in word bubbles with dotted borders, the cartoonist’s visual cue to indicate that they’re whispering. In panels where Elizabeth and Dawn are in the foreground, their word bubbles have solid borders, meaning they’re speaking in a normal conversational tone. But the distance between the two pairs doesn’t change, it’s just the perspective of the reader. And the characters should have no way of knowing what that perspective is.

The only thing not drawn is the carving knife Candace is sticking in Liz’s back
