If I am reading this right, then Anthony is saying that during the last few weeks when he was going out with Elizabeth, where he was probably holding hands with Elizabeth and kissing Elizabeth, he really wanted to be with Candace. Well, Anthony. That’s quite a thing to say. I think the most amazing part of Elizabeth at this point is that she does not haul off and slap Anthony for saying that to her.

No wonder Liz wanted to break up. He had already left the relationship.

Was Anthony for real? Or giving Liz a taste of her own medicine? Candace probably told him the truth that Liz had wanted to break up weeks ago and was too chicken to say it to him. So, he exacted a sweet revenge by saying thanks for sending Candace. I also wonder if Candace actually picked up vibes from him that he was interested so once she learned that Liz wanted to break up with him, Candace started pushing Liz to get it over with already.

Not only is he a creep, but he’s blockhead stupid if he thinks Liz “set it up” for him. He and Candace deserve each other.

My overwhelming feeling from following this thread in the strip is, "Thank God I was too focused on other interests to have to deal with all that teenage angst. I remember my romantic-relationship-free school days with quite a bit of fondness. Early on, I had realized that the fastest way to ruin a good friendship was to date them. You can find someone to date all over the place; friends have to be tended and nurtured. It’s a whole different process.
