Peter, games themselves aren’t what you need to be popular on twitch. You need a personality that draws others, lots of networking and a hook that draws people in.

I mean, it’s legit — as long as you prove before graduating that you can pull it off.

At this point, my son is in his 2nd year as a practicing family med physician, and his math genius high school pal is still gaming in his parents’ basement.

As unflattering as it sounds, it’s admittedly a more valid plan than it sounds as people have legit made actual careers doing this. I wouldn’t call it a great plan, or the one Peter should commit to (knowing him, he’d somehow fail at it anyway), and it in no way guarantees a lucrative profit…but it is admittedly one of the more sound plans he’s come up with in recent memory.

Activating the parental control feature in your home WIFI router, will fix that game playing all the time problem.

Twitch should really be a side thing until you can really get it going. Stream in your spare time when you’re not working and see if you can build up a community.

Save college money? Is HE putting the money away? I suspect the parents will find many other uses for his tuition dollars if that’s his plan.

Given what college diplomas are apparently worth nowadays (less than nothing), their ‘plan’ is a viable alternative.

Cut the electricity off and you on line folks would be worthless. Happened during Sandy, they wondered around wondering what happened. Morons.

I read about a guy from Vietnam who came to the US, worked hard and sent all his money back to his family in Vietnam. He ate nothing but ramen noodles for a few years and died from lack of nutrition

Before the internet, the influencers were parents and peers. Now, total strangers have the attention of impressionable and dare I say judgementally-challenged youth of today. “Challenges” on social media make the Jack-ass movies pale by comparison.

i am not a gamer and never heard of Twitch and from the descriptions I read here I am not missing much. The only computer games I play are hidden object games from a site that has them, word puzzles, majong and solitarre that come with my computer.

My son in law had the same plan. Apparently he’s really good at some popular team based shooting game. Not the most outgoing, wittiest online personality though. If he were a color, probably be beige.
