Try “flower sprouts”, more properly known as “kalettes”. They’re a relatively recent hybrid between Brussels sprouts and kale and IMO tastier than either. Hard to find, though, and right now they’re not in season.
I grew up hating Brussels sprouts after being forced to eat them as a child. Last week I had them at a restaurant for the first time in about 50 years. They were coated in seasoned breadcrumbs and roasted…and absolutely delicious.
If there is a way to prepare Brussels sprouts so that most children can stand them, go ahead and prepare them that way. If only adults can stand Brussels sprouts no matter how specially they’re prepared, then only serve them to adults. What point is there in serving them to children when it’s almost certain to instill a lifelong detestation?
My mother would smother Brussels sprouts and broccoli in a cheese sauce when I was a kid. Didn’t have them “unadulterated” until I was in my early twenties. Love ‘em if they aren’t cooked to the point of being mush. Just a little salt. No butter or sauces of any kind. (My mother later told me my father wouldn’t eat them without cheese sauce. He was a pickier eater than any of us kids.)

What’s left of our dying mall has three places to eat in their food court.

They don’t serve Brussels Sprouts in the food courts. It’s a case of discrimination!

Back when I was a kid in the 50s my mother made me eat BIG GREEN BOOGERS. She called them steamed Brussels sprouts, but I knew better.
I never forgave her.

I think we could get a class-action suit going on Brussels sprouts
