If one has not scruples, one has no ‘inner’ conflicts. Life is simple: do what one wants whenever one wants to. Take Buttercup for example. Not a trace of internal debate, he just acts on impulses, throws it out there, and walks away. It’s having scruples that causes the rest of us angst.
