    I used to play the hobo but I switched to the slide armbone. I could manage almost any of the brass instruments – the tuber, the strumpet, the coronet.

    Slip Mahoney [Leo Gorcey] was a master of malaprops in ‘The Bowery Boys’ movies. In the movie Feudin’ Fools he said: “Ellie Mae, it’s been an extinct pleasure.”. Another master was George ‘Kingfish’ Stevens [Tim Moore] on the Amos ’N Andy TV show. In numerous episodes he commiserated “I sprained my sacrocrackerjack”.
