Frazz by Jef Mallett for June 21, 2012
Transcript:
Student: Woo hoo! I'm smarter than President Ford! By President Johnson's criteria. Frazz: Finally dieseled and chewed gum at the same time, eh? Student: Except nobody was there to hear it. Frazz: Well, I certainly believe you. Student: I guess prompt reporting is the key.

A tiny victory by a literalist….

Ashburn, history is going to treat Carter better than most. The hostage crises, oil embargo, Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan, and him standing up to Communism when conservatives wanted to sell wheat to the Russians anyway….kinda made it tough. It would have made Rawmoney’s head explode…

I believe this is a girl talking with Frazz-equal opportunity comic strip-a girl can do an SBD as well as a boy. Agree with Pacopuddy as to Frazz’s expression!

zoidknight: The “Arab Oil Boycott” was before Carter. I was working at a maritime museum at the time and happened across a copy of Lloyd’s Shipping Gazette’s annual summation. More oil was shipped from Persian Gulf ports to the US than in the same period the year before. The gag at the time was it would be over when they ran out of storage space. Yes, the shortage was fake and they did use mothballed fleet tankers for storage. However, it was the “awl bidness” that did it, not Carter, who hadn’t taken office at the time.

Even Urban Dictionary doesn’t have that definition for “diesel”, but at a stretch I’d guess diesel is a vehicle fuel like petrol (sort of), which Americans refer to as “gas”.
