I have a hypothesis (don’t want to call it a theory and get Nightgaunt going). We’ve become a very aseptic society. We watch everything our kids eat and scrub everything that might go into their mouths. In the good old days, we stuck everything in our mouths, ate sand and bugs and we ate what adults ate as soon as we were weaned. And for all that wanton carelessness, as a kid, I don’t remember ever meeting anyone or hearing of anyone who had food allergies. Wonder what happened.
