I’ve lived decades in both climes, Michigan people are more rational that in Cali. SoCal has three kinds: dress-to-thermometer (appropriate), dress-to-calendar (it may be 85f, but it’s January so I’m wearing a down parka dambit), dress-to-Hollywood-depiction (always in shorts and sandals).

One place I lived we played golf year-round. If any part of the day was above 40F (w/o rain), it was golf weather. But no year-round shorts.
