Our 7 or 8 pound tomcat was seen killing a 3 - 4 pound field rat. Shame on that big bruiser of a dog for being afraid. And what would he have done with those huge rats in Vietnam? I am talking about four legged rodents.
He’s a basset hound so obviously he would only hunt bassets. The fact that there are no bassets roaming around nowadays proves how effective his forebears were, surely?
Aw come on Fred, it’s just a little bitty mouse and you’re a big strong dog…my little poodle mix, who is probably less than half your size, chases, catches, and will even eat those little critters if we don’t get the bacon treats out in time to trade!

Um - something’s not right… Fred’s a basset HOUND… a hunting dog bred for going after small game. He should be ATTACKING that mouse!
