After all, somebody put a lot of work into that model of a modern major-general.

What is this cartoon’s point? It’s not funny or meaningful or symbolic or didactic; it’s just gibberish masquerading as something valid and worthwhile. It’s the emperor’s new clothes.

Feeling rather imperious, aren’t we? Cyst a bit painful today? Or is it just that your pseudo-military costume and fright-mask are too tight? Maybe you’re just missing your never-developed unborn twin?

The OOT loop stays open as long as it disrupts time’s flow. You can’t change the past. But the big, unstoppable lead ball of time can hit an immovable moment and splatter around it, creating other futures. You can get into Huygens, Fresnel, Poisson and Young for analogies, but it’s enough just to know that time can flow around obstacles. The Alley Rats just killed my future, so my loop wasn’t going to collapse this time around. They were Lab Rats, and not very bright ones. They might be condemned criminals used for experiments for all I knew. With no consequences to their own future as long as their loop collapsed, a little wetwork in an alley or some recreational crime was no problem for them. It was a problem for everybody else, though, and expanded The Splatter. I’d been back dozens of times before the Rats started coming. I’ve been stuck for a while since they showed up from alternate timelines created. It doesn’t take many idiots to screw things up. One is usually plenty. There were hundreds now, and all working against each other, creating more and more alternates and more OOT incidents. Real geniuses.
