You can get more done with a kind word than you can with a kind word and a two-by-four. Because people don’t appreciate being hit with a two-by-four.

I’m getting softer every day. I’m turning into green slime and I think the world is doing it.

Kind words from “Mr. Portly”. Like any of the regulars wont have seen that on their own.

And yet, sometimes you have to get revenge from what someone did to you or it will follow you for the rest of your life. Forgive and forget was said by the ones who bullied and did those things to you in the past.

“Suffice it to say that Mr. Tryon has written a psychological horror story with lyric skill and spiritual strength which will impress the reader and hold him as much as its central revelation of evil will appall him.”

-Paul Horgan on Thomas Tryon’s The Other

“There’s only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.” – another fine quote by the delightful Mr. Vonnegut.

…is it ok to hate injustice?…

    …is ok to hate corruption?…

…is it good to be soft on crime?…

Be very careful with the degree of softness you choose to employ … it can come back and hit you … CaFfEiNe

A tolerant society cannot let intolerance take over. At some point you have to draw the line and say enough is enough. I have no tolerance for those who would destroy our 244 year old democracy to install a dictator.

It’s a tricky line to walk; it’s easy to become what you hate, to become just like what you are fighting against. Defense without hatred, because resentment is a poison you drink expecting the other to die.

Be like water, nurture all you touch, and when enough is gathered for a cause, there is no force like it. Or, just be like a gummy bearfrog. Who doesn’t love a good gummy?

Yeah. Soft and squishy. The apex predators like their humans soft-boiled. Kurt was a successful writer, but even his emollient could not make the world nice, and soft, and without hate. It’s a hard-knock world….

Got my wheels out and hit the road. I had to clear the driveway, first. Two summers is long enough to grow one heck of a blackberry bramble patch. Once I get out on the main roads I expect to find a lot of squirrel roadkill, so I can start up my artisanal jerked squirrel cottage industry again. Thanks to the profusion of nut trees, there are too many squirrels to count. Or does the profusion of squirrels result in too many nut trees to count? I guess it is sort of a left foot, right foot thing, steadily progressing toward the highest sustainable level of abundance. Some people view the squirrels as an infestation, due to their appearance of being inherently evil. But everybody loves them when they are properly prepared! I have to get them fresh, though. I could stop and cut some comix brush, but that can wait until the bogs are frozen, when it’s easier to reach. I’ve got enough already for at least two years. With the insulation the house has, and the magma intrusion that powers the hot springs, it never gets below freezing inside the house. The heat from the ground is enough to maintain that much. It’s not a livable temperature, but the pipes never freeze. And the comix brush is enough to make it cozy.
