Yeah. Worst I’ve ever seen was a prefect at boarding school. Chose to sunbathe on a Sunday. Fell asleep on the hottest day of the year. They needed to treat his sunburn in Shrewsbury Hospital…
To stop the hurt and later peeling apply Absorbine. It is horse linament. Absorbine, Jr. is for humans but not as effective. I am fair skinned, never sunbathed, but the first day in Puerto Rico one summer I spent the day by the pool and was red as a beet that afternoon. The next the red was gone and no pain.
Reminds me of a trip to the Caribbean, several years ago. My wife and I spent an afternoon under an umbrella on a beach in Sint Maarten. But I wasn’t sitting in the right place – my feet were outside of the shadow. My burnt insteps made it very uncomfortable to wear socks or shoes for the next several days.
My favorite depiction of sunburn was in the “Captain Underpants” series. A character got sunburned so bad, the heat coming off him caused things to melt or burst into flame as he walked around.
My hair will get very blonde in the summer but I slather lots of sunscreen on my skin so I don’t burn. I do not tan and have those ghostly white legs all summer long.
I have had more than my share of major burns. I had sun poisoning once. My skin has peeled until it bled more than once. So far, 7 minor skin cancers, all found by me, even though I get fully checked every year. Once I went in and asked the dermatologist to find the cancer on my back. I knew it was there but couldn’t find it. It was on the back of my shoulder. I don’t know how I knew, but it wasn’t the first time I knew without seeing it. So far, it has all been basal cell. I don’t try to tan anymore. I finally accepted that I am a redhead with accompanying skin. I don’t use suntan lotion anymore and walk my dog regularly. I do try to make our longer walks close to dawn or dusk.

Wondering if this was at camp or just a beach that doesn’t allow pets. Glad to see more spaces opening up for pets, like home improvement stores.

Eye protection. UV damage is cumulative.

I went to the lake as a kid and burned so bad I blistered all over my back, which probably was part of the reason I got some skin cancer back there.

Even though I was the palest member of my family, I never liked sunbathing, even at the beach, mostly because it was so boring!
