Probably the same thought Prince Charles has had for several decades now. The Queen will probably outlive him just to spite hm.

Nermal… with those big “Adore Me” eyes. But as big as a Dog House is girth. Munching down on something like Cheese Burgers and Cup Cakes. Lazily watching Cartoons. And sleeping with a toy Unicorn.

Yep… Nermal COULD replace Garfield! I would read about how he got to that point! (Smirk!)

I found this strip quite amusing. My lady friend didn’t. Go figure…

What came to mind as I thought of Nermal and Garfield was the evolution of women’s gymnastics. Prior to 1972, women’s gymnastics was led by the USSR and a slightly tall woman named Ludmilla Chureseva. She was famous for doing three consecutive belly flips on the uneven parallel bars. You see, in those days the bars were much closer together allowing girls to swing from the top bar and catch the bottom bar with their belly. But, then came Olga Korbut. Olga was a short little sprite who wowed everyone by doing a backflip off the top bar and regrasping the top bar before continuing her routine. From then on, like Nermal and Garfield, began the battle of the spritely fire plugs like Cathy Rigby versus the taller swans like that of Svetlana Boginskaya.

Let me get this straight. Nermal is supposed to be distinctively younger than Garfield. But if Garfield is the same age as the comic, he would be 42. Nermal first debuted in 1979, making him about 41 at the youngest.

Bottom line, Nermal’s not much younger than Garfield.
