Annnnd this is why I did NOT make my Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pistachio Fudge, or Caramel Surprise Cookies! They would be GONE before they cooled! And the bad part – there is only ONE culprit! That wicked witch in the mirror!!! ;)
Way back in the old days, me a boy, would help my sisters clear off our big kitchen table, & make Christmas cookies from scratch. I sifted the flour (yes you did that back then before it came pre-sifted). You used a rolling pin to flatten out the dough, & we had a variety of the metal & shaped Christmas related cutouts (this was before they came out with the plastic ones). We would have a variety of food coloring for the sugar frosting that decorated the different shapes. No they didn’t last long, even with my mom “hiding” some.
Ma used a Presto [I think that was the name] where one loaded the dough into it, then turned the screw to press the mixture through a die to create little green Christmas trees.
I ate so many that my poop was green the next day.
Funny this strip is out today. It has finally gotten cold in South Texas so today is Holiday baking day. We will bake about 30 dozen cookies for charity. From sugar cookies to Gingerbread men. I love this time of year!!!!
My dad and I used to bake two kinds of holiday cookies: snickerdoodles sand spritz. Because the spritz often jammed/got stuck in the cookie gun, they became known as the Cursin’ Cookies … ha.

I can’t have them around unless I can give them away to family/friend/co-workers later. Other wise I’ll finish them off.

There is never an expiration date on Christmas cookies. They don’t last long enough.

Cookies are best eaten slowly, one at a time, to savor each subtle flavor.
