Does this make ANY sense? I’m getting a strong vibe of “trumpian word salad” here. Pregnant GOP? Wearing an a pink shirt that says abortion legislation? Whaaa?
The Indiana state legislature is meeting July 25th to “consider” legislation on the topic.
Several local TV stations have asked various state representatives and state senators what they plan to do. NOT ONE Republican answered the question, including Bob Behning, whom I know personally , or John Jacob, who makes M.T. Greene look sane.
I’m not a fan of killing a life form in the name of birth control, but there should have been controls specified for rape, incest and the like, not outright prohibition. But to tell half the population that they have no right to control their own body is illogical. Staunch Catholic countries allow abortion now, it is considered a human right in some places. Fortunately Mifegymiso is a drug and federally regulated, (and out of State’s and SCOTUS control), and probably safer than a surgical solution.
“Activists offer bounties for conservative justices”, say the headlines. Not to mention at least one leftist Congresswoman who should have been able to summon the character to stifle her call to violence. OK. Let’s see if the sword can be made cut the other way as well. How about “Justices offer bounties for angry activists”? Many soldiers have died to preserve the independent Judiciary that our Constitution guarantees. I’m sure there are even more who are still alive that have enough regard for their Oath to turn their anger into action.
To give the devil his due, there is some truth in that. Roughly the same minority percentages want all abortion banned or anytime abortions legal. If, in the past half century, Congress had passed a law saying no state may be more restrictive than allowing all abortion permitted before 20 weeks, or anytime if rape, incest, health, the polls say roughly 2/3rds of voters would have gone along. But political cowardice caused by listening to the screamers at both ends of the issue put us where we are today.
What nonsense. Although it does indeed take two to make a zygote, the biological father has never had any rights or say in abort/don’t abort decisions. Responsibilities if the child comes to term? Oh Yes, but never any rights in the decision to birth.
My interpretation, remembering that Varvel mucks up most issues, is that it is not clear (at least to Garyboy) which one was the impetus for the trigger laws and the ones forthcoming.
“Pro-abortion” is a nonsense label. No one is asking that women have abortions, just that they retain their rights as a citizen to make their own choices.
I think the men should butt out of legislation that takes the decisions around whether they get pregnant (birth control) or continue a or abort a birth away from women.
The first time in USA history a right to freedom has been taken from a group, in this case all women, ever. We do not achieve a more perfect union taking away human rights.
BTW, gun ownership, is not a human right, as their misuse takes away other humans right to live without fear.
When polled, only about 3% of Americans see abortion as a priority. The top ranking issues are inflation, price of gas and the economy in general. What we have is a small minority of death worshipping extremists making an undo amount of noise in order to politicize an issue that most people aren’t concerned about. It changes nothing in blue states who have volunteered to pay all expenses for a woman wanting an abortion residing in a red state which may limit the procedure.

Obviously the father is the guy with the pro-abortion shirt. He wants to get rid of that future conservative patriot at any cost.
