Grand Avenue WHYISITS? Why is it that some people have no idea how ridiculous they sound? Girl: Like, I said, like, you're kidding and like, she was, like... Gabby: Someone must have clicked her "Like" button.
People often use nonsense fillers such as “um” in an unconscious effort to keep from forfeiting their position as current speaker while they’re searching for the next word or phrase. Whether “like” falls entirely into that category, I’m not sure. It is inordinately annoying, at any rate.
