I know that Mardi Gras (otherwise known as Fat Tuesday) isn’t recognized as an official church holiday by the Catholic Church, but it is a celebration of the flesh prior to the church observation of the 40 day period known as Lent. This confuses me.For 40 days people give up, for religious reasons, an activity that may be questionable for moral reasons. Yet they will indulge in it in excess during the 3 or 4 days beforehand.Something is wrong there.
