It is times like this that I prefer to invoke the French legend of the magic mouse.
The French leave the teeth under the pillow for the mouse and make a wish. It is said that if the tooth is taken in the morning, the mouse has been there and the wish will come true.
(Actually spotting the mouse will ensure that the wish comes true)
Take it or leave it! I grew up with kids who’s parents didn’t believe in the Tooth Fairy! They caved in to the Easter Bunny & Santa Claus, but, money for a tooth!?!?!? Fuggittabouttitt!!!

Why would the tooth fairy or anyone else pay anything for a used tooth?

Haven’t you heard of inflation Grandma? I’m your age and I got 25 cents a tooth when I was a kid!

A quarter is the going rate for a tooth. Any kid getting more has parents bribing the Tooth Fairy.

No, no, go on, grandma. Tell her about the tooth fairy.

Your grandma is a kind of liaison between the tooth fairy and you. That’s what she has to do with it.
