Once we kids stopped believing in Santa, my Dad (meanie that he was), used to use “the delivery truck” as a scare tactic (mostly to keep us from snooping around the house). If it were snowing, he’d say something like, “Wow! Look at that snow! I’m not sure the delivery truck is going to get through tonight!” If it didn’t snow, he’d say something like, “Wow! I heard there is a huge accident on the highway and it’s supposed to stop traffic for HOURS….not sure if the delivery truck will make it tonight, kids.” --LOL.
