Mom: 'Merry Christmas, dear Heart, but gimme a break!' 'Twas the day after Chrismas, and all through the house, lay the wrappings and tatters of the holiday douse. The stocking was flung from the chimney with haste, the contents were spilling like some sick ugly snake. When out on the rug there arose such a splatter, I sprung from my knees to see what was the matter. And what to my wondering eyes should unfurl, but ---- A hideous mess surrounding my girl! She spoke not a word but continued her work, every doll, every game, each revealed with a smirk. And then I exclamed as I slipped on the nail polish lake,
Or it’s socks for X-mas next year.
