You better give the atoms another name, something that yuk like, or associate the letters with something in order to memorize them. That’s what I do.

He will end up with a good job and she will end up working at McDonalds or someplace like that and complain she can’t pay her rent because she is working a job meant for teenagers to earn spare money and not for people trying to actually make a living.

You can bet that in things that she likes, like dolls she can and does recall far more complicated things than electrons, protons and neutrons which are the basics of bosonic matter. Wait till she gets to antimatter like positrons and dark matter like neutralinos. And we haven’t gotten to the six types of quarks yet.

Job prospects aside, a huge advantage of being scientifically literate is that it enables one to see more easily through the nonsense of creationists, anti-vaxxers, global warming denialists, and various conspiracy crazies.
