I’ve heard that song before. Childhood best friends, thick as thieves, doing everything together, and then they grow older, interests change, preferences overlap less and less and it simply doesn’t work the same way it used to anymore. And either they put in the effort to find some common ground, going out of their comfort zone even to make the effort, or it will sizzle out. In this strip Dean is trying to make the effort and Brent doesn’t yet realize that he will have to. I wonder how this is going to play out.
