Gotta give Charlotte points here. She’s honest about her income being lower than Kat’s but at the same time, doesn’t brag about her’s being higher than Heart’s.
“It’s all very technical” is uzually what I say when I actually mean, “I made that up just now and I don’t respect your intelligence enough to tell you so.” But, I’m sure Charlotte wouldn’t do that to Heart.
In the lore of this strip, Heart and Dean live on Spruce Sreet in what we Philadelphians call the Old (or Olde) City. Not exactly the low-rent district.
A quick review of Steenz:Her characters are drawn very differently from Mark Tatulli’s, which is to be expected. Heart’s mother doesn’t look at all like Tatulli’s thinner, darker-haired version. Steenz’ plots and characters’ behavior are more from a female’s perspective, and tend to be more pensive, introspective, while Tatulli’s characters were more zany and comical. It’s an education to see this. In comic books, there are distinct differences in Spider-Man as written by J. Marc DeMatteis versus Peter David.
