I’ll never understand racism. Don’t get me wrong, I get why it’s a big deal and how it impacts Black Americans. But that’s what escapes me: they’re Americans regardless (or the country you are native to, whatever. I’m using America because it’s my home country). What does it matter what the color of their skin is? It’s just a stupidly minor detail. It’s no more important than the color of your eyes or hair. Only one thing matters: “Are you a good person?” If you are, or trying to be, nothing else matters. The pastor is right: “People are fighting a battle no one knows anything about.” I sure don’t get it.
