Ask Jim Fix if running keeps you young or healthy.

I once one a prize for being the oldest walker in a 5K “race.” It was under false pretenses. I was 63 at the time, but the right knee was 4 months old.

Always remember Jim Fixx who started the current running mania… and then died at the age of 52… while running.

My exercise is on a bike. I’m up to a little over 7 miles most days, and that’s more than I’ve worked out in years.

After over 30 years as a football ( soccer ) referee, I no longer run – nor care to. I do however, go to a municipal stadium every morning and do 3 miles brisk walking around the track in about 45 minutes, and I lift weights for 30 minutes, 3 times a week. At 73, I reckon that’s enough for me !

Someone once asked me how old I am. I told him and he said “You sure don’t look it.” I thanked him and he said “I guess that could be taken two ways.”

Running on hard surfaces destroys the feet, knees, hips, and lower back.
