That kind of is the way some of these things are promoted these days.

I’m having another staycation this year. My anticipated raise is all going to Medicare, again. I’ll look at pictures online. No crowds nor aggravation. :-)

Well, I get the joke but there is a lot of truth to that. Her motive may be selfish but some countries really do depend on tourism!

I’m laughing my tail off at this one because my wife and I were just ( less than five minutes ago ) in a discussion about whether to put up Christmas decorations, do the whole family hoo-ha or just get away and celebrate by ourselves somewhere when I read this!

We did this a few years ago – celebrated a quiet Christmas holiday by ourselves in a small mountain town and had a wonderful time. The family got their presents at the New Year and my wife was spared the stress of putting together a big family Christmas gathering where everybody rapidly unwraps their presents, scarfs down their meals, then races off to another party.

Are we being selfish? You betcha!

Leaving a dollar or two on the bed with a thank you note really makes a big difference to the cleaning crew.

This is obviously more self-indulgent than buying gifts, but I support it. I’m sure it’s a lot healthier for them.

Maurice is already very downcast!

Years ago, my niece and I decided that, in lieu of gifts to one another, we would donate to the charity (or charities), of our choice. This year, my donations will go to Meals on Wheels, and our local food bank.

That is how many horror movies start. Just saying.

To promote peace and goodwill they’ll be staying on seperate islands

Tourists spend a lot of money, so that’s not a totally selfish idea.
