several years ago one school in Michigan simply did not open after the locals voted against the local property tax(state moved school funding to sales tax a few months later) recall that was a slow moving train wreck at first the school system cut the buses-this was a rural school district-then due to running out of money they closed the schools in I believe March. then came the vote against the school tax-a lot more retired than families with children
