My backup generator sounds funny when idling. So I fired my “generator installer and service company” and did the service myself. I found the spark plugs were gapped at less than .020". He or his minions took them right out of the box and installed them at every annual service, or never replaced the original plugs. I gapped them at .030" and it purrs like a kitten.

My first car was a 72 Mustang. It was our “big” car when we first married and we took it on trips. I had it until it died too much to fix it – over 10 years later.
That was followed by an 84 Chevette – married with a budget. Also had that one for quite awhile.
It was followed by a 1993 Chevy Blazer S10 which I loved. In 2012 I said to husband, I don’t want to get rid of the Blazer – it is my favorite car that I have had – but I knew it was getting old and did not want him to be the one say we needed to get a new car due to the constant work it needed. So we did. Really wish we had not – what a mistake.
A Chevy Equinox followed – THAT WAS THE MISTAKE! The darn Eco Tech engines have a problem with the pressure in the oil/valves system. After having it a few years we had to add oil almost weekly. When husband found out that the problem was pressure building up we got a ventilated oil cap put in to relieve the pressure. We now have an “oil catch can” in the engine to catch the oil being shot out of the system. And it is making “THE NOISE” which means time is running out for it.
