The current TV show, Elspeth, is an unashamed ripoff of Columbo.

Just like the remake of Matlock.

Just wait another ten years. Nobody watches the same shows any more. There won’t be many cultural references that everybody gets at all.

When I was young, adults were so stupid for expecting me to know their stale, outdated references. But now that I’m older, kids are so stupid for not knowing my classic, timeless references.

My wife has the complete collection of Columbo on DVD which we rewatch every now and then. One of my favorites was Banacek which his “Old Polish Proverbs”!

Ah yes, fame is so fleeting. And I’d put up the great actors that were still around when I was young against anyone out there today. Hmm, I would say there are a couple more great actresses for playing superhero roles now, though. Ah, but I don’t think you’ll find the likes of Lucille Ball, Martha Rae, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett — oh, a couple of those and a couple others I could name are still alive, at any rate.

It isn’t Columbo…no cigar butt, no Bassett hound, no hard boiled eggs.

Peter Falk had some interesting stories about what he used to do with his glass eye. Ahh the days of watching Sunday Night Mystery; Columbo, McCloud , Banacek, McMillian and Wife

I have a number of younger friends who binge watch Columbo. Some classics never get dated.

Peter Falk was also a pretty good artist.

Columbo was a bit before my time but he was a masterful detective.

Why would he think the case is about to be closed? They have not caught the robbers yet. Sanchez must know something he is not saying.

What a wonderful homage! (And maybe, just maybe, some of “today’s kids” will look him up on DVD!)

My 25 year old son came to me recently and asked if I ever heard of this old show he discovered called “Columbo”… I was so proud that he’s into it!

I have the same last name as Darrin and Samantha on “Bewitched” – same spelling and pronunciation. I always get mispronunciations and misspellings. I tell people about the “Bewitched” connection, but many still don’t get the reference.

That’s on you. When I was a kid, my dad used to watch reruns of his old favorite shows and movies with me as soon as he thought I was old enought to handle them. It was a nice bonding time.
