Her mom has me thanking God (or the Deity Of Your Choice) for my mom. She didn’t do the criticism once I moved out at 21, but was just happy to see me. I miss her.

So, they’re skipping the scene where Jen enjoys nibbling on her wings so much that all the boys rush to offer her another? Censorship?

And there you have it in a nutshell. The reason Brandy is kind, and can connect and emphasize with people less accomplished, less attractive, or otherwise disadvantaged. Brandy knows from childhood on what it feels like to be demeaned or taken for granted and rather than letting it make her bitter she has learned how not to be like that. She somehow learned to overcome that bad energy, to channel and transform it into being a better person than her mother ever will be.
