Don’t Schulz’s children have enough billions by now? They can live off the merch and the royalties and residuals forever without having to deny a spot in the newspaper comics page(s) to a new up-and-comer (which Mark used to be before he hit the big time). Cathy Guisewite had the right idea when she refused to allow her retired strip to be rerun.

Schulz wanted his cartoon to go on. He just did not want anyone else to do the comic strip. I met him three times – very nice gentleman.

I do believe that the original “Peanuts” strip said, “Happiness, is a warm puppy,” NOT “Happiness is a cold bag of bones, holding a scythe.”
