In my youth I would do those slides but made sure they were at least 40 feet long!

I remember that happened to me in middle school. I was running really fast in the schoolyard when I saw a patch of ice in front of me I thought I could run right over it but next thing I knew I was, SPLAT,,On the ground with bloody knees

An old Cracker Jack commercial used the line “Some kids never grow up”…seems to apply here.

Wouldn’t his body be the other way around from a face-plant like that? Seems like his knees should be in the other direction.

Every time I say, “Hey! Watch this!”, I open my eyes and see the ER nurse.

One and a half seconds can be a very long time. Ask any football, hockey, basket ball team, etc, and most athletes…..

I slipped on ice and banged by elbow bad enough to get a hairline fracture. It was on a stairway down from the newly rebuilt deck. People bad-mouth building inspectors but one had insisted an additional guardrail be added to those stairs two weeks previously. Without it, I probably would have broken my neck.

Reminds me of family stories about a relative who was a famously bad boy. His mother would lose patience and give him a severe spanking, after which, though tears, he would scream “I’m gonna go do it again!”

WORST time in history to go to an Emergency Room. Be smart. Be safe.

Reminds me of the time when as a young adult (who should have known better) I wanted to see what would happen if I used my bicycle brakes while crossing a patch of ice. It happened, quickly.

That was our “winter playground equipment,” for most of my years in grade school.
