I used to volunteer at a zoo. We weren’t supposed to say Merry Christmas. But the guests all said it so I said it back. The place was full of Christmas decorations!
Some people don’t say Merry Christmas, they don’t HAVE TO but that doesn’t mean that those of us who SAY Merry Christmas are not allowed to. We don’t prevent or complain about what others say, leave us alone. Merry Christmas!
People in retail generally say “Happy Holidays” because of the overlapping religious holidays. It’s just a respectful way of acknowledging everyone and is certainly NOT a war on Christmas. Some people seriously must stop whining and self-victimizing. No one is coming for your cross.
Although I say Merry Christmas, I always thought Happy Holidays was meant to say Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Year all at once. So here’s wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. May God Bless You!
it’s the time of year the snowflakes come out and try to push there political agenda by saying they are offended by the words Merry Christmas. suck it up buttercup and learn to walk away instead of making a big deal out of everything you don’t like.
Back in my pro choral days, Former Sig. Other used to set up caroling gigs, sometimes for some pretty picky customers. When one asked for an “all secular” program for their company’s holiday party, he commented privately that someone really needed to write a song called “We Wish You a Merry Unspecified December Holiday.”
I find the people who try to make hay with the mythical “war on Christmas” use the Happy Holidays phrase in their mailings. And it seems people are willfully blind to that.
I say “Happy Holidays” because there are many holidays this time of year: Chanukah, Bodhi (Buddhist), Christmas, Kwanza, New Years Eve, New Year, 3 Kings Day. I cover many bases with my greeting. You can do anyone you want individually or all at once.
I can understand — though not really sympathize with - some non“Christian” folks who feel belittled by others’ saying “Merry Christmas”, but I don’t understand being offended by “Happy Holidays”. I don’t know any “Christians” who don’t also celebrate New Year’s Day (and Eve).

How nice. Getting into the holiday or Christmas spirit. The spirit of giving. A good punch.

It’s as silly to be offended by “Happy Holidays” as it is to object to “Merry Christmas.” They’re just looking for a fight. Prince of Peace, you know.

The point is to respect other people’s beliefs. No one has the right to be disrespect anyone else.
