Maybe someone noticed this five years ago, but the so-called Boxer Rebellion wasn in 1900. It was basically a resistance movement against foreign exploitation of China, and once it was clear that a coalition of all the great powers of the time were crushing both the insurgents and the Imperial Army, Empress Dowager Cixi immediately disowned the Boxers. The Manchu Dynasty was finally overthrown in 1912.
